March 22, 2017 - DAY ONE
Abdalla, Will, Hamish
Our morning was early as we all gathered at the Winnipeg airport at 4:45 AM. We all grab Starbucks or Tim Hortons and then hopped on the flight to Vancouver. Security chose Will to get patted down a lot, it was great. We arrived in Maui just after 1 PM Maui time and the weather was so nice that we all had to change into shorts at the baggage claim. From the airport we went to Costco to get food for our rooms, the bill was crazy expensive collectively because we eat so much. We got settled in the room and went to the beach is downstairs and stepped on a bunch of rocks. Abdalla cut his toenails too short, Hamish got a hangnail and Will stubbed his baby toe and cut his heel so we are off to an interesting start. The team got dressed up and went out to dinner. Our burgers and milkshakes were so yummy. Before bed there was the worlds largest bug by Abdalla and Wills' bed but thankfully they got rid of it. That's all for day one!

MARCH 23, 2017 - DAY TWO
Liezl, Torie, Dora, Jessika and Jessica
Today was our first full day on the island. It was an early start (but not actually that early because 5:00am Maui time is 10:00am Winnipeg time). Our first set was a 4500 meter pull set, which saved our legs for the gruelling Maui circuit that came next. Afterward we made our way back to the condos covered in grass and dripping with sweat. Dora (mom) made grilled cheese sandwiches, and we cracked open a four pound bag of trail mix.
Next we went to the beach and got tossed around by the waves. While swimming, a HUGE sea turtle came by, and it was probably the highlight of our day. We also got wonderful ice cream with flavours only available in Hawaii, such as heavenly hana, caramel coconut macadamia nut, and many more.
We ate an entire pineapple before our second practice of the day (#noregrets). At evening practice, Jessica got a bug in her mouth and it was an interesting experience.
After practice, we had pizza thanks to Wendy and fell into bed after a long day.
Hope its not to cold at home,
Love,
Liezl, Torie, Dora, Jessika and Jessica

MARCH 24, 2017 - DAY THREE
Aloha from Kihei!
It was yet another eventful day in Hawaii! Our morning started off with the long walk to the pool. (It felt even longer due to our extremely sore legs from the death circuit we did yesterday). Our morning practice consisted of a drag and fly set, then a quick free set and finished off with a pull set! We were in for a treat when Dave said our dryland would take place on the beach!! We may as well be by the ocean doing work if we are such a beautiful place, right?
Our afternoon was very relaxing as we were nothing less than lazy. We were in for another surprise when Dave and Wendy decided each room would write and perform a skit to present to the other rooms. We spent our early afternoon planning and practicing then we performed later on. There was a lot on the line because the first place team would get an easy kick (with fins) warmup, second place got a free warmup and third was a dreaded fly warmup. The boys room decided on a "life of pi" spinoff titled "life of cake", they finished first! Our room finished second and we completed an original piece including a shark attack! And the other girls room finished third with a "finding dory" spinoff or "finding dora"! We all had so much fun bonding and creating very funny pieces (our room could not think of a theme so we were basically in crisis).
Our evening practice started once we finished our awarded warmups. We were again in for another treat when the coaches put "one of the worst sets ever put on the board" ATT set. The set was a 5000 meter, deadly (but rewarding) workout.
We are now back in our rooms, finishing a delicious spaghetti dinner courtesy of Wendy (thank you) and talking to all of you! We are really enjoying the heat and we feel very accomplished with what we are doing here!
See you all soon,
Love: Lexi, Abi, Jovana, Veronica and Jamie

March 25, 2017 - DAY FOUR
Abdalla, Will, Hamish
Today we swim in the morning and then we came back and made very messy pancakes, Will added too much water to the mix so it ended up being scrambled pancakes instead of regular pancakes but it was pretty good. We then went to Wailea and did some nice swimming on their nice beach. After we had enough of that we had some nice shave ice for the first time. It was nice. We then went to Wailea's nice shops but most of us went straight to lunch. Will and Hamish had burgers but Abdalla had grilled fish and rice because he wants clear skin. Practice was an intense MVO2 set, everyone did VERY well.

MARCH 26, 2017 - DAY FIVE
Liezl, Torie, Dora, Jessika and Jessica
The day started of as usual, alarms ringing and the sluggish application of sunscreen. After a long practice that ended with a brisk walk along the beach (trying our best to channel our inner mom on her way to a sale at Winners), we had a quick meal before collapsing into our beds. Today the group decided to take the day off from adventure and were going to have a sandcastle contest. That idea was quickly shut down for the day when everyone realized they were too burned to go outside. After amazing naps, the group joined up for a lunch at Peggy Sues where everyone had the usual order of a milkshake. After devouring our meals/milkshakes, we made our back to the condos to get ready for our early evening practice. The practice consisted of a main stroke circuit which entailed drag and fly, max kick, and goal pace 25's. The practice ended with the "First Annual Maui Iron Swim". That is 300 IM, two dives with streamline kick (one off the 1m and one off the 3m), a 25m of streamline jumps, and finally a 25m of max fly. Congrats to Abi for winning this challenge. On our way back to the condos our room was super pumped for our restaurant quality dinner consisting of penne alfredo, garlic bread, and ceaser salad. Afterwards we got together to discuss this blog post.
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the unseasonably warm weather back in Winnipeg. Let's hope it lasts.

MARCH 27, 2017 - DAY SIX
Aloha!
Today was an exciting and highly anticipated day. We not only get to go snorkelling but we also get dryland and night practice off!
The morning started off with a sprint fly, kick and short rest free set. It was difficult but the fact that we were about to see a bunch of fish, got us through the 2 hours. We made our way back to the condos where both girls rooms came into our room to have a nice breakfast together. We made avocado toast with egg on top. The room got a little smokey and Jamie cracked the eggs on the bar stools, but that's all in the fun of it, right?
Our room then enjoyed a relaxing morning that involved nothing more than laying down and watching the Carrie Diaries! We made our way to the bus and road it all the way to the harbour, where we caught our boat. We boated out to "Turtle Island" where we were shuttled into the water. We saw tons of fish and coral but we did not luck out on the turtle search. The boat had a huge slide at the front, almost all of us made a couple trips down (even Dave!)
After our short hour of snorkelling we were taken on a ride to find whales and dolphins! We were in luck because we saw a few whales and we basically saw a dolphin show! The dolphins were so playful and we were sure they knew we were there, as they kept flying out of the water!
After snorkelling we came back to Kihei and caught another bus! We made our way to Fred's where we all had a GREAT dinner. Since we were still half an hour from catching our bus we made a pit stop at Whalers for some souvenir shopping!
Now we are back home after catching our bus to the condos! We had a super fun and exciting day so we are so tired! We are looking forward to getting a good sleep tonight and having an easy going day tomorrow!
Talk to you soon,
xoxo, Lexi, Abi, Jamie, Jovana and Veronica

MARCH 28, 2017 - DAY SEVEN
Abdalla, Will, Hamish
Hello and bonjour and hOla and aloha and hello and hey there and howdy from room 309! This morning we doubled up on our cereal, we knew of a tough practice to come because Dave warned us of intense swimming and we knew we had to the Maui circuit afterwards.
In the morning we swam 30 x 100 m critical speed. Wow it really stings our arms. Then we had our Maui circuit and us three boys really pulled through and got the three most improved award's. Also, two of us placed in the top two but not Abdalla because he was not good enough and he got fourth hehe. Hamish came first and Will came second. After practice we were good Samaritans and gave room 106 a bunch of our toilet paper because they ran out.
We had a Sandcastle building competition, we decided to make a dog and it was really funny. It was also heartbreaking because the waves ruined our creation. The girls from 106 had a lovely design of Our route to the pool and they won.
In the evening we had a race night, we are waiting to see our results on that! See you later.

MARCH 29, 2017 - DAY EIGHT
Aloha!
Our day started with the usual early morning swim, which consisted of a long free swim, kick and pull set. A fellow Canadian swimmer, Adrian from Cascade swim team joined us this morning for practice. After we walked back to the condos we enjoyed yoga lead by Abi. We then went back to our rooms and rested up for our busy day. Dave picked us up around noon in the 15 seater U-Haul van and it was a long, sweaty drive to Makenna Beach! we all had so much fun climbing the cliff for pictures and playing in the waves! The boys were attached to the waves the entire time and even Dave got in for a swim! We then made our way back to the condos for a quick snack and a rest before evening practice. Adrian joined us again for practice thinking we were the "Maui Marlins" HAHA! Our practice consisted of a main stroke/goal pace set. (ouch) After practice we walked back to the condos and enjoyed some barbecued hotdogs and hamburgers thanks to Wendy! It was a very fun day filled with lots of laughs and adventures! and definitely some hard work.
Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather back home!

MARCH 30, 2017 - DAY NINE
Aloha Everyone!
We hope that everyone back at home is having as fun and rewarding spring break as we are!
Today our day started off like any other (except Wendy gave us a ride to the pool in our rented van, thank you!!). Once we got to practice we had a very difficult stroke/free set, courtesy of Noah Wasilyw! We all were happy to walk back to the condos where we completed a core workout!
Our day then led to us driving to Ka'anapali (not sure how to spell that)! We went cliff jumping where we climbed a very difficult rock and jumped off! We were all pretty beached out so we made our way up to the mall! Some spent their money on food, others bought clothing and some bought both. After a long day we had a long drive back (thanks dave for driving). We got back to the condos where we had some relaxing time before practice!
Our evening practice involved another race night. We all raced our 200 and 100 main stroke again! Our warmup was extremely eventful because we had the pleasure of meeting another Hawaiian creature! (Dave jumped in the pool and hid under water to scare Jess)! Probably one of the funniest moments of camp so far!
We are now back at the condos, trying to finish up all of our food because we are sadly getting close to the end of our trip! Each day gets more sad as we are really enjoying the heat!

MARCH 31, 2017 - DAY TEN
Today we woke up ready for our last full day in Maui. After swimming and doing some dryland on the beach, we were excited to get the night off some shopping and delicious dinner.
We went to Lahaina all day for shopping.A really cool place that all of us loved was the poster store, Hamish bought a poster of Hawaii dancer and will bought a poster of John Lennon. Abdalla wanted an authentic Ashton Martin/ Louis Vuitton poster but it was too much so he decided to buy 3 packages of pancake mix instead
We ate at Bubba Gump's which was so delicious and yummy and great and really filling and yummy. Hamish had calamari and clam chowder, William had a cheeseburger, abdalla had mahi mahi, delicious.
We came back to the condos and try to finish a bunch of our yoghurt and garlic bread but Hamish burnt the garlic bread. Then we went off to bed to get ready for our last practice
